Cancer is one of the deadliest known diseases to mankind. It can be triggered by a numerous controllable and uncontrollable reasons and is incurable beyond a certain stage. It is always fatal, if not detected and cured at an early stage. The disease is existent in more than 200 types, as there are over 200 kinds of cells present in the human body. The survival rate has increased to almost 60% and the early detection techniques have also become high edged. However, this was not the case even a decade ago. This has been achieved through years of rigorous research by the world’s best medical practitioners and scholars. These results have consumed mammoth efforts and funds. Approximately $200 billion have been spent on cancer research and the disease is still incurable.
Hence, pools of resources that are required to combat the disease have always been scarce despite the individual initiatives and government aids. ‘Cancer Research’ is a UK based non profitable, non-government funded charity that finances the research work and cure development. Their resourcing is funded by individuals and companies; they fund the research work to combat more than 200 types of cancer. UK based Mr. Sudhir Choudhrie is one of the many supporters.
The ‘Cancer Research’ UK was conceived in 2002 as a result of the merger of Cancer Research Campaign and the Imperial Cancer Research Fund, established in 1902. Today, it sponsors the work of over 4000 scientists across the UK. With all this in place and many milestones crossed ‘Cancer Research’ is the biggest contributor to research for cancer, in entire Europe.
Besides funding research, they also provide information about the disease and help spread awareness. Their website offers complete understanding of the disease and shows latest breakthroughs about diagnostics and cures. A person suffering from the disease can know about the latest treatments, techniques and international practices of curing it. They can also communicate with patients who have been diagnosed with similar problems and can share their experience. We need to come forward as well, and fund this generous cause as Cancer is still fatal with 1 in 10 people suffering from it.
